Roy Carroll to become Publisher of The Rhino Times

Noise ordinance bedfellows are teaming up once more to spread the conservative word in our fair city.

It is rumored that Roy Carroll  invested a large amount of money in John Hammer's defunct publication and will assume the role of publisher...
Ed Cone is also rumored to join Roy Carroll's new team.

Can't wait!

  6. LOL. Got a note about this, here was my response:

If Eric had bothered to call me (or walk the block to my office, or email/tweet/FB me, etc) I could have told him that John contacted me in May to ask if I might be interested in contributing to a publication he was discussing with unnamed potential backers, who were telling him a new paper would need a broader spectrum of viewpoints than the old Rhino Times. I told him I wouldn't rule out the possibility of contributing, because I like John and I like newspapers and I think GSO could use more local media. That was the last I'd heard of it until Ron over at the Style and Cut shop mentioned the Rhino's rebirth last week. Fact is I'm really busy with my day job and a side project, and not sure I have much left to say as a columnist. It would be interesting to see how John and RC work together, and if this actually gets off the ground I wish it success and hope it's a good thing for Greensboro.

  8. Andrew, love the condescendence but sources were checked and time will tell if indeed, RC becomes the publisher...and since you seem to be reading, I would love your take on the GPAC site analysis...South Elm Street redevelopment site vs current proposed site by the historical museum.

As for not contacting you Ed, i apologize, I guess i could have, maybe I misinterpreted your behavior towards me. I must state that I did in fact confirmed that you were actually approached by John and by others. Everyone seems eager to get them some Ed..and I can see why as i am a fan. In the future, i will contact you, and if you happen to walk Luna my way, feel free to come in as you have had an open invite for a few years now...it s only one block...i am the building right on the other side of the Pop Up Dog park.

  9. "I did in fact confirmed that you were actually approached by John and by others."

But I wasn't approached by others. I just told you my entire history with this thing: One brief email from John, months ago, followed by a comment about the local buzz from my barber last week that reminded me that it ever happened.
