“It was everyone from the head of Triad Stage to City Council and bankers,” said Cecelia Thompson, director of projects for Action Greensboro, who went on the trip. “It was a diverse group.”
Walker Sanders, Susan Schwartz, Milton Kern, CeceliaThompson.... We must be in good hands.
I am sure it was essential , fun, exciting and above all...educational.
Over the years how many places have Greensboro development teams been to to get ideas to bring back and implement?
ReplyDeleteI recall years ago Chattanooga was one such place, and something about another place with a canal?
If they don't do anything why waste a trip other than to have a good time?

ReplyDeleteDon't forget Greenville.
And yet nothing ever changes. Three rounds of downtown Greensboro redevelopment and renewal in my lifetime alone with the end result always being the same-- another round of downtown Greensboro redevelopment and renewal needed.
The one point they always keep missing is that all the downtowns they visited were more or less bulldozed and built anew-- something that scares Greensboro's "leaders" out of their wits. Why? Because nobody bulldozes a building that can still be used. Mankind has understood for centuries, the bird must die before the bird can fly!
But alas, that too flies over the heads of politicians.
